From Rousseau to Lenin: Studies in Ideology and Society

Lucio Colletti

This choice of Colletti's (1924-2001) imperative Marxist essays should be welcomed by way of non-Italian readers. Colletti's quandary as a Marxist used to be twofold: to interpret Marxism as profoundly and as flexibly as attainable; and to enquire the relationships among Marx's concept and that of a couple of different thinkers as greatly separated in time as Rousseau and Marcuse. His idea levels broadly via philosophy, historical past, sociology, politics, and economics, with no pausing at obstacles. Colletti's paintings from his Marxist interval tried to put the paintings of Marx in a line of descent that de-emphasizes Hegel, whereas giving a singular concentration to the connection among Marxism and Kant.
