Into the Jaws of Death: The True Story of the Legendary Raid on Saint-Nazaire

Robert Lyman

it's the evening of 28 March 1942. Royal army and British commandos are poised to attack the German-held port of Saint-Nazaire in what is going to be some of the most audacious and bold raids of the second one global warfare. The plan is straightforward: to force an outdated destroyer, jam-packed with 3 hundreds explosive, at complete pace into the outer gate of the Normandie dock. the purpose is to damage the bottom from which the ambitious battleship Tirpitz will be in a position to devastate the convoys offering Britain from the U.S..  'Operation Chariot' used to be to be dramatically winning, yet at a good price. Fewer than part the lads who went at the venture lower back. In acceptance in their valour, eighty-nine have been offered, together with 5 Victoria Crosses.

Into the Jaws of Death is the genuine tale of ways the decisive braveness of a small team of fellows replaced the process the warfare.
