Sylvie (1853) is a novella through French Romanticist Gérard de Nerval. It used to be first released within the periodical los angeles Revue des Deux Mondes in 1853, and as a ebook in Les Filles du feu in 1854, quite a few months sooner than Nerval killed himself in January 1855. Sylvie is frequently thought of Nerval's prose masterpiece, and has been a favourite of Marcel Proust, André Breton, Joseph Cornell and Umberto Eco. Harold Bloom integrated it within the Western Canon (1994). the tale is set a hero's love for 3 ladies, all of whom he loses; a hymn to not possible, unrequited love.
